These lectures form an annual programme of monthly lunchtime lectures to be held here at Dr Johnson's House, kindly sponsored by The Fleet Street Quarter BID.
Lester Hillman explores a watery network that transformed transport and the late eighteenth century world of Johnson. Today a mile up from Gough Square it is to be found, still vibrant and operational. Are there links to Johnson in place names? Come and discover what this hidden world can tell us.
Lester Hillman
Lester Hillman's background is in development and transport infrastructure. This included initiatives such as European Architectural Heritage Year 1975 on the doorstep of Dr Johnson's House. He is a former Visting Professor and has received international, university and professional awards. He supported activities for the tercentenary of Dr Johnson.
