Join us over lunch to hear Rosalind Freeborn discuss the fascinating life of a boy raised in the shadow of the Georgian royal crown.

In 1765 a four-year-old orphan is bundled into a carriage with a woman he does not know. He is taken to the royal palace at Richmond to a be a playmate for three-year-old Prince George, son of King George III.

Join Ros Freeborn to hear the story behind her novel and discover the fascinating life of a boy raised in the shadow of the Georgian royal crown. This novel uncovers the fascinating story of Frederick Blomberg, the secret son of King George III, who was adopted into the royal household, grew up with the royal children and remained a lifelong friend of young Prince George, the future George IV. In this talk, Ros will explore the rich history behind her novel, the intriguing dynamics of the royal court, and the process of bringing hidden historical figures to life through meticulous research combined with storytelling. The book illuminates the life of an important member of the Georgian royal family who has been hiding in plain sight for centuries. Ros offers a fresh perspective on a familiar historical period.

Rosalind Freeborn

Ros started her career as a book publicist and went on to promote a variety of arts organisations and charities. She was prompted to write this book after investigating her grandmother’s claim that the family had a connection with royalty. Having uncovered the remarkable story of Frederick Blomberg she felt compelled to write it as a novel. She is also an artist specialising in collage; she exhibits and sells her work regularly. She is married with four grown up children and lives in north London.

Your ticket includes the opportunity to look around Dr Johnson's House as well as a complimentary lunch from local business Dilieto on Fleet Street.
