Book now for this instalment of our monthly lunchtime lectures, part of an annual programme of talks held at Dr Johnson's House, kindly sponsored by The Fleet Street Quarter BID.
This talk will give a brief outline of the essential features of 18th-century costume, much as Dr Johnson would have known and seen worn around London. As well as offering a slide presentation, Lizzie will refer to some of the images in the House as illustrations.

Lizzie’s degree in English led her to a late interest in history. Her first job was with Sotheby’s, the London auction house, where she spent two years handling costumes and textiles. A lifelong interest from then on has included a study of clothing from original garments and paintings (as well as occasionally dressing for re-enactments). She has volunteered in a range of museums and historic properties, and has recently returned from Colonial Williamsburg in America, where the presentation of 18th-century dress is thoroughly researched.
