Volunteer
Dr Johnson’s House has a friendly team of volunteers who provide invaluable support to our two members of staff, aiding the smooth running of the house. Typically we have two types of volunteering opportunities available:Front desk volunteers
Volunteers take admissions and sales and provide a warm and informative welcome to all our visitors. No specific experience is necessary but volunteers need to be friendly, competent at handling sales and to have the enthusiasm to learn more about Johnson and his circle.
Back office volunteers
Volunteers undertake a wide range of tasks behind the scenes at the museum. These include being involved in curatorial, educational and marketing projects and helping with the day to day running of the House. These places are usually offered to those seeking relevant experience to prepare for a career in the sector. If you are interested in volunteering, then please contact the Deputy Curator on 020 7353 3745 or fill in an enquiry form.
