Hodge & Other Cats
£3.50 + P&P

Hodge the Cat, whose lifesize statue sits on a plinth in Gough Square, was Dr Johnson's pet cat in his later years. This booklet is a compendium of Johnsonian definitions, quotes and anecdotes on cats, such as this from Boswell's Life of Samuel Johnson:

'Nor would it be just ... to omit the fondness which he shewed for animals which he had taken under his protection. I shall never forget the indulgence with which he treated Hodge, his cat: for whom he ... used to go out and buy oysters...'
